During its session today, 11/12/2023, the Qatari Shura Council, led by His Excellency Mr. Hassan bin Abdullah Al-Ghanim, the Speaker of the Shura Council, approved a draft law on the Judicial Execution Law, as received from the Government, following a review of the Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee's report.

The draft law included many new provisions that will help expedite the execution of judicial rulings. The key highlights of the draft law are:

  • 1-Cheque as an executive title/document:

The draft law recognizes a cheque as an executive document/title, simplifying the process of collecting cheque amounts.

  • 2-Collection of cheque amount:

The amount of a cheque will be considered collected without the need for a lawsuit, it will just require a direct request to the execution judge. This measure hopes to reduce the number of cheques written without balance, by making the legal procedures more flexible.

  • 3-Lease contract as an executive title/document:

The draft law addresses issues related to renting real estate. It will recognize the lease contract as an executive document/title when it comes to the eviction of real estate at the end of the lease’s term, eliminating the need for a lawsuit.

These developments aim to expedite the execution of judicial rulings and resolve issues related to financial transactions and real estate matters more efficiently.
