On the 1st of February 2024, the Ministry of Economy and Trade in the Lebanese Republic made a significant decision concerning the temporary suspension of receiving trademark filing applications due to the considerable number of pending trademark registration applications, which is caused by the strike.
The Minister of Economy and Trade has determined that in order to effectively address this situation and prevent potential complications stemming from the issuance and implementation of the official budget budget law of 2024 which have provided an increase in the governemrntal filing and registration fees, decided to suspend the acceptance of new trademark applications.
This temporary suspension will extend until the 5th of March 2024, unless there has been an extension for this decision. During this period, no new requests for trademark registration will be accepted to the Intellectual Property Protection Department.
